Historical Significance
The launching of the San Felipe in 1690 began its career of engaging the British and French Navies while protecting the galleons that were bringing to Spain the plunder from the Caribbean and South America. The San Felipe played a major role in protecting the colonial Spanish Settlements as well as escorting ships on the long voyage back to Spain. |
